A sweeter Dead Can Dance
I heard the band Lal Meri’s first CD reviewed on NPR’s “All Things Considered” today. I bought it instantly. The group reminds me of Dead Can Dance but with a kind of sweetened pop sound added to the mix. Check it out. There are three cuts from the album on the link above.
EDIT: Shoot me. I swore to myself last time I heard an NPR review and then bought the CD that I’d never do it again. Once again, when I listened to the CD, I found that the reviewer had concentrated on sounds that were not typical of the entire recording. Only two or three cuts have a Dead-Can-Dancey sound. This is probably the 8th or 9th recording I bought on their recommendation and I’ve been disappointed nearly every time.
